Moringa oleifera and Caesalpinia pulcherrima extracts tested for mosquito repellent activity

Have you ever wondered if you could make yourself a mosquito repellent lotion that would not be toxic to your skin ? the Asia Pacific Journal of Biomedicine has an answer with reports of tests including starved mosquitos ready to bite ( three species ), human volunteers with arms in a cage, one being covered with extracts of Moringa oleifera and Caesalpinia pulcherrima : at a concentration of 5 mg per cm2 of skin, the extract of  Caesalpinia pulcherrima   is 100 % efficient 3 hours; see the chart  ! Here is the article.
Leucas aspera is an other plant known in Asia for its traditional use as insect repellent.
